I need to tell you first, this was not my idea. Our family nights for a very long time consisted of pizza, sometimes homemade, more often not, and a movie. My girls still crave a night with no homework, no chores and everyone just hanging out. They are totally okay with pizza and a movie but I’m trying at least once a month to step it up a little. So let me introduce you to Whitaker Woman. She really knows what she’s doing with Family Nights. I totally stole the idea from her. I did let her know I’d be using it though.
On our agenda for the night… walking around like penguins being chased by a polar bear. Sometimes it was Tucker.Sometimes it was Daddy.
Sometimes it was Bria.
Bria is still acting a like a polar bear. We were afraid she would let out a giant “ROOOAAARRRR I get you!” during church yesterday. We made it through a double service by the skin of our teeth.
The menu included little penguins, snowflake quesadillas, glacier cookies, and fish sticks. I know it was a weird menu but my kids loved it. The pictures aren’t great. I was too busy rushing around to get the really good pictures I wanted.
The evening ended by reading a book about 2 different kinds of penguins. Then, we watched Survivor. I know it has nothing to do with Penguins, but the girls like it and Happy Feet wasn’t on the watch instantly section of Netflix.
We all had a fabulous time. In the interest of telling you how it really went, I also need to say on Friday night, when everyone is tired from a week of school with little girls, there is always drama. We were going to read about penguins on National Geographic Kids. That didn’t quite work out the way I would like with a 7 and 9 year old each trying to take control of the computer.
While overall, I think it was a nice memorable night. On Saturday we decided at the last minute to make a pizza. Arleigh said, “This is great since we miss Family Night last night!” So… at least I have 3 weeks before I try to step it up again.
