What I Missed
Fully entrenched in our routine now that we are back… hard to believe all I could think about this time last week was getting home… I am truly aware of what I missed.
- The girls… oh my word, I’m soaking them up.
- Reminding a certain fifth grader that AR counts toward her grade and it is just as important to pick up a book as it is to read on her iPod.
- The girls.
- Two girl scout meetings one at Sweet and Sassy and the start of nut sales.
- Piano and long phone calls from our beloved piano teacher.
- The girls.
- School pictures.
- Kissing three little girls and not blowing kisses at them through the iPad.
- Diet SunDrop.
- The girls.
- Going to church. (Currently I miss going to church without worrying about meltdowns.)
- Bria confronting a bully a Chik-fil-a. I would have loved to see that.
- A stomach virus, thankfully only one and it was quick.
- The girls.
- Shopping with Grandma.
- Seeing Hanan hit her AR goal.
- A cheer pom meeting. Are we really going to do this?
- The girls.
- A visit from Tye Tye. Apparently he only visits when I’m out of the country.
- My twenty year high school reunion.
- The girls.
- The chapter of my sorority’s 50th anniversary.
- Reading my favorite blogs every morning.
- The girls.
- Doing my laundry in a washing machine and dryer. Never knew how much I would miss that!
- Picking up blocks, Dora toys, stuffed animals, recorders, panties, wet towels, you get the idea.
- The girls.
- My brother-in-law and sister-in-law moving away from TN. We actually lived in the same state for almost two years. That’s the first time that’s happened in the last 16 years.
- The girls.
Are you seeing a theme? The good news is as much as the time in China wore me out, I would do it again. We got to help Jack and see so many firsts.
- First airplane ride, again and again.
- First boat ride, we think.
- First escalator, pretty sure.
- First church service.
- First chicken nugget and fries McDonald’s outing.
- First hugs.
- First pants without a giant hole in the bum.
- First kisses.
- Possibly first bath in a bathtub.
- First roughhousing with Daddy.
- First Cheerios.
- First Safari Park.
- First time feeding a tiger. (Had to throw that in.)
- First time being part of a real family.
As we enter this new phase of attachment, I find myself counting everything as a blessing. Plus, I started Kisses From Katie. How can I do anything else?

Love knowing how things are going~ well I think!!! What a blessing to be surrounded by SO much love~ home… no place like it! Blessings and love!
Looks like you are all doing fabulous! Your family is beautiful. I know those first few months home are soooo difficult. I remember people telling me that things would get better in a few months and I would be thinking that I couldn't make it to the end of the week
Your boy is so handsome and so happy,,, he will shock and amaze you in the coming months. What a blessing. So happy to be following along
Diet Sundrop? As in made in TN??? My DH LOVES the stuff and always points out the billboard when we are down the road in "Sundrop Country".
))
Thanks for your comment and I love your little boy's name btw. And he is too cute! Glad you all are safely home and all together now!
