Field Day was fabulous other than me clearly coveting everyone else’s camera… and the heat… and the lack of water…and we have a casualty. Hanan is home sick from school today. Sick as in puking up the dinner we forced her to eat because we just got a note from the school that she needed to be referred to a pediatrician due to her size or lack thereof. Good times. Since her teacher didn’t require them to carry their water around, instead she left it warming on the concrete, leaving it undrinkable. I’m pretty sure Hanan’s demise was from the heat. She’s somewhere between poor pitiful and climbing the walls so I’m sure she’ll be fine to go back tomorrow. If it is a virus, at least it’s fast moving…

Anyway, field day… I rushed from dropping Jack and Bria off at school to Arleigh’s. It was great. The parents won the tug of war and Arleigh kicked a home run. Ms. Ortiz is great at firing the kids up and encouraging sportsmanship. I followed them around like a lost puppy dog, through the school on to popsicles. Then they had a brief period of time in the classroom without the parents. I left because who wants to sit in the sun. I came back, early but proceeded to be chastised by Arleigh for being late. The fifth grade had tents set up and burgers. There were lawn games and a beach ball kick ball tournament. I had to leave early to get Bria and Jack. Then back to the school for Hanan’s field day…more popsicles. Then we waited in the car line passing the time by blowing bubbles Bria got for her treat at school. Arleigh didn’t make it to the car line in time. That created a bit of drama, not limited to but including tears because she thought the teachers were angry. This always irritates me… if they wouldn’t start the car line early or could agreed on a time that the teachers must have the kids for the car rider line into the gym… there wouldn’t be a problem. I’m solving it by never being the first one in the car line ever again…

That pretty much sums up a very, very long day and the first day of a long, long month. I always say May is at least as busy as December with the end of school activities, fitting in birthday parties and planning vacations. We decided to plan a move to the other side of the country too. No problem.

Since I have three people waiting in line behind me for computer time… I’ll move on. I’ll just leave you with a picture gallery…
